The E-Book Piracy Debate, Revisited - NYTimes.com
The E-Book Piracy Debate, Revisited - NYTimes.com
David Pogue is always worth reading. The question for us, as e-book authors and publishers, has so far been whether or not to us DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection against piracy. I can't speak for other Thoth authors, but my view so far is no: I don't want to create any obstacle to my readers' copying, wholly or in part, or sharing, because (1) I'm mainly interested in the widest readership possible (so if you share a book of mine with your friends and family, I'm happy — if they read it!) and (2) I don't expect it to happen much. Especially since I price my books low enough that there should be little temptation to steal.
